Open Study Workshop - November 29, 2025

A$220.00

Workshop Details

This workshop will recommend focusing on post-flush growth management of most species except junipers. This time of year is the opportune time for pruning and managing growth after it has hardened off. This can involve pruning and partially defoliating of broadleaf evergreen and deciduous species, including post-flower cut back on our late spring flowering species like Kunzea and Melaleuca. Candle pruning on multi-flush pines can also occur now. Airlayering of most species can occur now as well as live vein reduction on junipers and other cypresses. The key to this time of year is balancing growth.

Species

  • All species

Techniques

  • Post-flush pruning & growth management

  • New Deadwood creation and live vein reduction.

  • Air-layering

Workshop duration

10am - 4pm

Trees

You have the choice to either; bring your own tree, OR be provided with a skill-specific tree from our own garden. You may also purchase a tree from our sales inventory.

We ask that you only bring 1-2 trees and encourage focus on a singular tree if the scope of work presents itself as requiring the full session.

Catering

Refreshments are provided.

Lunch is BYO, or can be catered for an additional fee of $35, paid on the day.

Tools

We provide many of the tools required for technical work, such as carving tools, raffia, repotting tools etc. We simply require each student to provide their own basic tool set, including wire. If you do not have the required equipment, it can be purchased while on site here at Tree Makers or from our online store ahead of time.

Cost
